Designer's need perimeter and area because they would need the area of a floor for rugs. For an example 18 inches of floor to wall showing. 18 inches of bare floor exposed aro und the perimeter of a room is more traditional. They need all these measurements for wallpaper, paint, and rugs. Builders and carpenters also need perimeter, area and volume. While building a house every room needs to be measured exactly so the house goes up correctly. They need to build to the exact plans.

Kevin, Hunter, Josh and I created a club house named “Math clubhouse”.The room I created is made of a rectangle, two triangles and a half circle. To find the area to my room start by finding the area of each individual piece. Then add the area of each shape to find the final area of the room. To calculate the perimeter of the whole room you count the length of each outer side and add them. To calculate the total volume you need take the total area and multiply it by the height.
So the area of the room is 2,376 ft squared. The perimeter of my room is 868 ft. The total volume of my room is 35,640 ft cubed.
WHY IS THE PERIMETER, AREA AND/OR VOLUME USEFUL TO A DESIGNER AND WHO ELSE WOULD THIS INFORMATION BE USEFUL FOR?
Perimeter is useful to a designer because if the designer wanted to decorate with light, crown molding, hang light and extension cords and for the electrical wires. This could be use a contractor. Area is useful to a designer for a painter, flooring person, carpenter doing flooring.Volume is useful to a designer because if they need to put items or big items in a room they need to know volume. Volume would be useful to a postal office need to know the volume of the boxes and the trucks so they know how much can fit into the box/truck, construction worker (a paver).

Why it is so Important for a Designer to Know the Area of the whole space they are planning to have made.
A designer needs to be able to know the exact area of each part of the place that they are trying to build or plan to build so everything is even and stable. If the designer doesn't have the exact amount of space that is right for the part of the building then it most likely won't be that durable. This information would be useful for an architect and especially a constructor. They are the people who have everything to do with building and planning out the building so they know how much amounts of space is right for the parts of their project. When building, everything needs to be exact because if not then there probably be either an unbalanced floor or a tipping wall. Which is why it is so important for particularly those people to know the area down to the last centimeter.

Its Its important to know the area and perimeter for the designer so they know how much furniture can fit in it and how many people can live there. The designers can measure the furniture compared to the room and know how much space will be left over. Also they can use the perimeter for the carpet or wood floors. The designer should also know the volume so he would know how expensive the heating/AC would cost. Also if the owner wanted a basketball court he would have to know the volume.

Have you ever realized that the math you use in class is used a lot in your life and other peoples lives.You could use this type of math for many things like building a treehouse in your yard.
Also people like architects use these rules and formulas on a daily basis to design your house. After they design the house the construction worker put the architects designs into a project and create a house. Also you can use these formulas to measure the room you watch tv in so that you can fit the furniture you buy in through your door. Always remember to use the things you learn in math and apply them in the real world.
